Rain Storm2-D Fiber Sculpture, 2023
22 x 16 x 2 The drama of a soaking storm dances on the landscape, beating out the rhythm of a familiar song. I love the sound. Upcycled guitar strings form the warp for this loosely structured weaving of botanically printed and rust-dyed upcycled fabrics, topped with the papery fiber base of a Queen Palm frond. |
Swimming Upstreamfiber sculpture, 2022
Swimming upstream isn’t for everyone. For the courageous who dare it means constant forward, upward motion. Fighting the current. Gliding through seemingly endless waves with a grace that barely ripples the surface. Sometimes, the reward for a job well done is simply to pause and appreciate the lessons of the journey, knowing that we’ve always held the key. Linen and canvas scraps, vintage lace, and silk are re-imagined with rust, fresh-leaf indigo, eucalyptus and onion skins. Textile scraps from a wine bottle gift bag and used guitar strings add a bit of pizzazz, and an antique skeleton key anchors the piece. |
Breaking outfiber sculpture, 2022
Sometimes breaking out is big and bold and unmistakable. Sometimes it's more like chickens peeking out of the coop... toe first, peek around the corner... see what's out there. Reclaimed chicken coop door. Fabric sculpture elements created exclusively from upcycled cotton/poly blend pillow case eco-printed with Japanese Maple, Physocarpus (Nine Bark) and Crepe Myrtle leaves, 100-year-old rusty piano wire. Embelished with shredded, eco-dyed rope, bolt & screws reclaimed from chicken coop door. View video of unbundling the eco-printed fabric. |
