I'm a hopeful creative, out to try anything and everything that fills my soul.
My mother is my biggest inspiration. She taught me to see as an artist sees, and has always encouraged me to look beyond the obvious to see what's possible. And like her, for me learning the rules of how something 'should' be done is just a guide.
This site is currently under construction as I curate the past 20 years of my creative pursuits, exploring how they've brought me to who I am today.

SongwritingMy creative pursuits began with music as a child, and it remains my north star. My husband Greg Newlon and I write, record and perform original songs that move your heart - and your feet. Acoustic guitar, lots of harmony - appreciated by fans of 70s folk rock. Visit BevAndGreg.com or find us on Spotify, YouTube and all your favorite streaming sites.

Clay SculptureI took a Creative Process class to see how it would inform my songwriting, and fell in love with sculpting in clay. I paid attention to the important rules about structure, and ignored the ones about combining oxides and glazes. I once thought I would buy a kiln and start again... but then I re-discovered papermaking. But I do love to sculpt.

PapermakingMy journey with paper was handed down from my mom, a fabulous artist who - like me - loves to try new things. I explore plant-based fibers from my kitchen and backyard, often mixed with items from my recycle bin. I'm not after the perfectly pulled sheet that fits into an ink jet printer. I want the texture, and the lumps, and the wispy edges.

CollageAfter I started posting my hand-made paper on Facebook and Instagram, a friend invited me to join a collage group on Facebook. For me, collage is a way to explore color and composition... and to learn to let go of outcomes. Along the way, I've created some pieces I'm excited about, and developed my current approach to combining paper and ecoprinting.

Guitar String JewelryFrom 2016 to 2018 I upcycled unique bracelets, earrings and pendants out of more than 2,500 gently used guitar strings. I love making treasure from trash. It's no longer my path to crank out items for an Etsy store, so I may create an online course to teach my techniques.

EcoprintingCo-creating with nature is the ultimate challenge. Rust, plants, flowers - add some heat - I'm constantly amazed at the results. My dye garden and outdoor studio are my new playground and constant source of inspiration. I work both fabric and paper, with mordants and in a 'dirty pot.'

Fiber ArtsI'm bringing all of my favorite creative pursuits together - sculpting, paper, found objects, ecoprinting and natural pigment dying - into a new exploration of fiber arts. Its the ultimate artistic playground. Best of all, very few rules.

Creative ThoughtsCuriosity is the mother of creativity. I bring my whole self to my work as a marketing manager for a software company, including my perspective on creativity. I'm gathering my thoughts for what's next - inspirational speaking, creativity workshops, perhaps a book.
