DYE AND FIBER GARDEN TOUR

We rescued this Japanese Maple tree from a bull dozer at our daughter's house when they put in a pool about three years ago. It took some time settling in, but now its thriving in the garden just outside my studio and it makes me so happy!
All trees in the genus Acer (Maple) are good 'printers' because they are deeply veined which adds to the interest of the print, and they contain the tannins that interact with iron to produce a dark, rich color.
I've used leaves from this tree for eco-printing on paper, silk, cotton, linen and even polyester!
