Simple SurvivorsAmerican Poke Weed is a simple survivor, returning to my garden year after year. Its an amazing, beautiful, versatile and misunderstood plant.
15 x 7 x 2 Handmade paper from the stalks, seeds and berries is sealed with encaustic. Three stalks stand proud: one natural, one dyed with its berries and one naturally affected by time and moisture. (all sealed) 
My large American Poke Weed grows outside my studio in my Sacramento area back yard.
Weeds are really just plants that grow where you don't want them. This one one is right where it needs to be for my taste, so maybe I'll just call it Poke. |
